This tank has been moved to a side table to hold our newest betta. He's gorgeous.

Eight days in. Plants from an RAOK arrived (thanks, Drazend!). Bacopa australis is trying not to melt in the back right corner. Riccia is tied to a rock in front right. Marimo ball on the left in the dark under the dwarf water lettuce. Also added some frogbit from mayphly (Thanks!). The plastic is there to keep the floaters away from the bacopa so it can get some light. The floaters kind of look like they're massing on top of a volcano. LOL Lots of plant debris on the bottom. Vacuumed some out with my partial water change this morning.
Ramshorns and MTS are having a blast.
Still waiting for my filter, lighting, planting tools, etc to arrive. Darn mail holidays. :P If I'm lucky, my items will be here by next Thursday. Ended up ordering an appropriately sized hood to put CFLs in. Current lighting sucks.
The hood says it has to be used over glass... the glass that came with the tank covers the entire opening, so my HOB won't fit. I thought of setting it slightly offset, but then it will stick up outside the rim. Any suggestions?
Have also ordered an anubias petite, some chain swords, pennywort, and other goodies from plant suppliers online and some TPT members having sales.

I want to get an anubias nana petite to attach to the rock. Aside from that, I think I may be fairly well set up with the RAOK from drazend...thanks again! There will be some riccia, which I'll tie to a small rock (I have lots of those). Some bacopa, a bit of hornwort, and some dwarf water lettuce. Once it's cycled, I may change a few of those out, depending on the look. As for livestock, my son wants a few Blue Velvet neocardinas and I want some Exclamation Point Rasboras (Boraras uropthalmoides). They're tiny and supposedly safe with the shrimp. I'm a book editor by day, so I couldn't pass up a fish with punctuation marks on it. LOL
I still have a lot of set up to do. Rigged a temporary light, but have an LED on Ebay that I'd like to get. Still need a filter, water tests, etc.

Nice looking rock! I use goo gone, or some other related product (if it's on the outside) Then wipe with an alcohol moistened paper towel.
What inhabitants are you looking to place in there?
Looks like you're off to a better start that I was when I first started

|Redtail84||Looks good. I like the rock. Any ideas on what plants you'll be putting in there?|

Hardscape added. The rock was found in our backyard. I scrubbed it and boiled it. Substrate is MGOCPM capped with sand. The rock looked a lot smaller outside. LOL However, I like the jagged top.

|mosspearl||Vodka, huh? That means I'd have to buy an entire bottle to get rid of two spots. :P Don't drink the stuff, but if it's that good at cleaning, maybe it's worth it.|

that stuff works on everything from cleaning silk and cotton shoes, to removing glue...

First Nano 2.5 gallon
My aquatic journey has begun! Aside from several gallon jars at my disposal, I brought home a 2.5 gallon tank today from Petsmart. It was on sale and I saved a whole 50 cents from its regular price. Yay me! It fits perfectly on the shelf on my desk. I also picked up some MGOCPM and a bag of CaribSea Super Naturals black sand to cap the dirt.
I took off the banner they put in it and was left with a couple glue spots on the glass. You'd think they'd use something easy to remove, but no. I had to break out a razor blade to try and scrape it off. It came off in infinitesimal layers, but there is still a thin bit left that I can't seem to budge. You can see them inside the red circle in the second picture. Anyone have any suggestions? I don't want to scratch the glass.
Tomorrow I will rinse it out and start filling it with my substrate. I'll have to look through my collection for items to put in. I have some quartz crystals... are they safe? I don't have a lot of options yet, so this will be a slow work in progress.
