|Blackheart||I was thinking about doing my 56 gallon column just as a tetra only tank, maybe with a small school of cories and some amano shrimp.|

|GeToChKn||I have 1 platy tank, 1 yellow cobra guppy tank, 1 golden white cloud minnow tank, 1 neon tetra/least kili tank, 1 yellow shrimp tank, 1 fire red shrimp tank, 1 crystal shrimp tank, 1 cycled with nothing in it yet tank, so I'm for them. lol.|

|Miira||I prefer them that way, but I have relatively small tanks. I like many of 1 or 2 species instead of 1-2 of several different fish. My current tanks have guppies and platies together and the other has cherry barbs and blue rams.|

I think they're very interesting... some fish act much more friendly/brave when in a large group of their own kind instead of small mixed crowds.
I particularly like cories and loaches.

I think they are actually pretty cool, inverts like shrimp are probably the most common type of species tank.
Zebra Pleco's are another example I have seen and liked with a biotope settting.

Species only tanks
What do you guys think about species only tanks? Like having just one, or two species of fish or inhabitants?
