A.D.D.i.c.t. Sounds like the best plan, thanks everyone. I really appreciate the advice.

ThatGuyWithTheFish No, buy Supreme Reds.

Nubster Yeah, personally, that's what I'd do...just get good stock and be done with it. If nothing else, if you wanna try playing with neos and breeding...setup another tank and get some different colors and mix them and let nature take its course. After a while, you'll end up with some color variations that you can start pulling out if you so desired.

Re: Worth It?

That's what I'm leaning towards, as even my best cherries will likely be closer to low grade of whatever species I go with. Still undecided.

the addiction continues...

Nubster I guess there's some fun to be had developing your own stock but if you're just after the end result, I'd just start fresh with some painted fire reds. They are cheap enough, grab 10 for $20 or 20 for $30 which seems to be the current rate and let them do their thing.

wicca27 when it comes to cherrys and the red in them i would say get the best you can to start with. im not for sure what the top one is be it painted fires or sukara red. but once you get them you will need to cull to keep the best possible red in the tank cause over time lower grades will show up. there are lots of neo colors out there now if you want to work with your own. i like rili cause i get several colors out of the original reds i started with. i have the red and clear, blues, red and blue mix, blue with red on the head. green tinted, and even ones i call purple. alot of people have been playing with the chocolate neos as well and have had several different color morphs come from them as well. so its kinda your call.

Worth It?

So I've been attempting to cull my RCS tank for better red coloration for the past few weeks. I'm planning on breaking down both 10 gallons I have set up now to "start over" using the knowledge that I've gained since joining this forum. I will be setting up a new tank/tanks dedicated to my shrimp friends, as I have fallen in love with all the incredible species/morphs available.
My question is, is it worth it in your opinion to continue culling for the most red, and mixing them with another RED neo species, like PFR's, Taiwan Reds, etc.
Or should I just sell/donate/trade/whatever the Cherries and focus on whatever new Specie of my choice?
I know this is all a matter of personal opinion, just wondering what others think about my dilemma.
Thanks!
