Soothing Shrimp what are you feeding them?
02-25-2013 04:43 PM
mordalphus You'd need a exemplars for a dna comparison.

I think Chris lukhap has a pretty large collection of dna samples so if you send to him he should be able to find out what it is for sure.

Soothing Shrimp I know the crustahunter can do it- even from molts.

DO we have anyone on this forum who works with DNA equipment?

wicca27 if i get a good number of them i am willing if someone who has the ability to find out the genetics of them and send a few for testing. i know it would mean the end of the shrimp i send but some times its better for the greater good right?

Soothing Shrimp I love that they are mystery shrimp! So often this hobby is rigid and stern on "These are THIS shrimp- PERIOD!"

Personally, I think these are a mystery cross!

wicca27 well i think i may have 2 types of shrimp after all lol. i think the last couple pics i posted might be a green neo, they are much bigger now than the others. also i have the big green and orange striped female berried so we shall see what happens. i got fingers crossed i get something from her. the first time she dropped all the eggs. and there is a berried female (from the first pics) in the breeder box with the baby angel so i will get pics later and you call can tell me what you think

wicca27 same shrimp but yeah they are the only ones that changed color. when they changed color i moved them to diff tank that ph is higher um between 7 and 7.5 some where that tank also houses my lone oebt. the tank most are in has a ph of 6.5 ish. those are f2 generation from the original shrimp i got back in july. i noticed those as babies back round october so i moved them

wicca27 ok so this is what the friend of mine told me when i was asking today

"technically UN ID'd.... says they are one of the cardinia babaulti complex...
not sure which... or if thats it.... think they might be neo cardinia... I dont think so ... I think right..... but there hasnt been a 100% ID on them...
Some folks told me they THOUGHT they were "rainbow" shrimp... but those rainbows... STAY various colors... THESE change...
SO since we cant get a 100% ID... they are crazy green WASABIS.... LOL and i put in the auctions that thinks they are carinida babaulti complex, and I think hes right.... Well if it helps... they have bred in everything from SUPER SOFT water....
to my water at its hardest
so say ph of 4.5 all the way to ph of 9
i know they can take temps of 55-95 also... and act like NUTHING ever happened if the temp change is gradual. has told me i can post some of her pics as well if it will help
