DSM Start this week - few questions

Hi TPT Users,

I'm going to be starting my first tank this week. A few things need to get completed before I put water in the tank and continue with a full fill of water.

I've read about the DSM method for helping with carpeting plants like HC. I'm looking to start this week, and not have water in the tank until the tank stand + basement framing is complete (~3-4wks). I realize that a full DSM is much longer than that, but I figure it is a head start to growth in any regard.

I will be using Black Flourite, ADA Powersand, & ADA Aqua Soil. (The AS is far too expensive in Canada to justify using large volumes...75G tank).

My questions come with the Flourite..
(1) Do I need to rinse
(2) Am I okay to use this for the DSM method?

Thanks!
