R.sok I decided to try your method. If i read it correctly here is what I did. Cut off a piece of chopstick (inch long) then on the outlet end I took a dremel & sharpened the tip like a pencil & hooked it up to my c02. It does work pretty good, a lot better than just using a chopstick alone or an airstone But I went back to my original method. breaking off a piece of chopstick & then on the outlet end put a dab of superglue on it so the bubbles are forced to come out the sides of the chopstick rather than the tip

Diana So you can get a lot of 'air stones' out of one bamboo skewer or chopstick by using a pencil sharpener to put a point on it, then cutting off enough to stick into the tubing, then 'sharpening' another point, then cutting that off...

DIY air stone - mist sized bubbles!

OKAY i got this idea from 'somewhere' i would love to give credit but i can't remember where i saw it.

i am using a DIY yeast (note to others adding a packet of yeast because you don't think it's working is a BAD idea, it makes a TON of CO2 and alcohol and the shrimp like it WAY more then they should - right up till they die)

i have a 'cheap' airstone and the bubbles were bigger then i liked even in the spraybar return (which is a great DIY on the fly venturi type system - looks like crud but okay sort term).

read you can use a disposable chop stick, okay I have a ton of those (i like sushi) ... well it's not bad the LITTLE air bubbles come out the end of the chop stick (you need it to lay horizontal in your tank, vertical makes big bubbles).. then i thought...

use the END of the chopstick (the angled part where they break apart more "holes" that way ... WOW GREAT...such tinny bubbles

Cut the chopstick by scoring it with scissors and breaking it. You only need 1/2 inch or less.

You can hook this to your DIY CO2 or Air (with a regulator thingy) and it BARELY on... and you get a super fine mist of bubbles.

(ps. yes, i remade my yeast - and stuck to 1/4 tsp - did make extra but then got busy and forgot to add it in - today the mix IS making bubbles like 2 every 5-10 seconds (so about right for a 6 gallon tank, heavily planted) .. i do have a fine mist of air going too.. trying to save those shrimp)
