Crow Surprisingly Detroit city water is some of the best water in the US.

Thanks for the answers.

fplata Yes, or a mixture depending on your tap parameters.

I am guessing you have a smaller tank with an active substrate. Also dosing EI with gh booster will help, but I guess you will quickly deplete your active substrate. On a large tank you will have issues if you use only ro/di unless you dose gh booster and some sort of k2co3 to increase your kh (clearly this is dependent on the substrate)

fplata You will need to remineralize it, what is your tap water like? In my case I use 70% ro/di 30% well water and that gives me a ph of 7, gh of 5 and kh of 3. Lots of people use tap depending where they are from.

RO/DI water?

Hello all,
I have been in the saltwater hobby for 20+ years now, and in the middle of setting up my very first planted freshwater tank.

What I'd like to know is, can I use my water I make from my RO/DI unit in my soon to be planted 90g?

Or will the water be striped of needed items from the ro/di?

My setup is a seven stage ro/di unit, so the output is 100% pure h2o.
