Looks like the led fixture is a thin strip. IS there enough spread to cover your tank's footprint since your light is just sitting above your tank? I have always wondered about that with LED lights.

I attached pictures, there is one in here that is a comparison between my old fixture and new fixture size. It is just mind blowing how well this new fixture is made.

|Smitty06||No the single bright won't work, it doesn't give off enough light for any kind of planted tank. Can we gat some info on your tank dimensions, it will make it a lot easier to tell you which led fixture you shouls get and which will provide enough light.|

|ronaldvalente||I just replaced my 4x 65W power compact fixture over my 75 with a BuildMyLED.com fixture. I got a single 48" fixture, 75 degree lens, freshwater planted layout. It is by far the greatest upgrade I have ever done to my tank. It so worth every single penny.|

I really am a dummy when it comes to all the tech stuff with lights. Do you think the 48 inch version of this one will work?

I use twenty four no-name 3 watt LED emitters driven at 670 mA on my 75g tank. Plant growth is in my opinion, excellent. It hangs about five inches above the tank rim.
It's an even mix of White and Warm White which (in this case) translates to about 10,000k and 6500k.

I just replaced the same amount of T8 bulbs over my 72 with a Finnex Ray II. My old fixtures were the black dual T8 shop lights from Lowes. They had NO reflectors and, in fact, the inside was painted black.
The Ray II is quite a bit brighter than the 4 T8s were. I'm injecting CO2, so that isn't an issue (in fact, it's what I wanted).
Lowe was telling me that a FugeRay over my tank would give me a low light level. That might be something you want to look at? It's a little cheaper as well.

LED is different from T5/8, in that every brand and model will have different light outputs. There are a few threads here and an thebarreport.com that discuss the PAR output of several popular LED lights. I would suggest checking them out.

Couple of LED Light Questions
I am replacing 4x32 watt t-8 bulbs that are currently over my 75 gallon. I would like to have the same or a little more light without being too much. I have no CO2 and am not interested in getting any.
What is the general rule to use for LED lights as far as how much to use for an aquarium? And what is the best LED option?
