Bryanmc1988 i would not use a 1/8" thick glass for many reason...

1. to thin
2. every want a swimming pool in a room? didnt think so...
3. when silicone'ing the glass together it doesnt have much support and can rip or crack really easy
4. you need to think if the silicone can hold the water weight without a brace... water is 8lb per gallon of water...

just to be on the safe side, i would go with a 1/4" thick glass... it might be over kill or it might be enough but one thing for sure is that its not going to be weak... cost is a little more but i rather spend that extra cash and do it the right way and the safe way then rick it all for nothing

DIY Glass Nano Cube

I can't seem to find a suitable sized tank online, so I'm going to give the whole DIY thing a try and see if I can put together my own tank. I plan to make an 11" cube, but I am unsure what thickness of glass to use.

The calculators I found online ( make it seem like 1/8" glass would be plenty thick, however all of the DIY aquarium guides I've found don't mention any glass under 1/4" thick.

Does anyone know if 1/8" glass would be safe for an 11" cube?

Metric Conversions:
1/8" = ~3mm
1/4" = ~6mm
11" = ~28mm
