Ka'aina Thanx or mahalo! I think I'll be going this route, plus I'll have it suspended so I can adjust the height to control the par. I was just worried that I won't have enough par at that dept to grow the dwarf angel and Xmas moss. I'm still waiting for my tank to be made (all the way from Florida) so in the mean time I wanna get everything. Next weekend I'm going that is, LOL

Ps. Nothing like living in paradise...LOL

BeachBum2012 I'd trade the knowledge to get to live in Hawaii any day.

I'm really loving the finnex light so far. There are a bunch of folks in my local club that are using them with good results as well. I think you'll really like it.

And welcome to the community here. You'll find tons of great info.

Ka'aina Beachbum, thanx! Yes that is helpfull...being in Hawaii, not a lot to go by. We have a dedicated aquascaping shop which is full of knowledge, he just doesn't have much experience with LEDs. He is using now but he says he needs time to see how it workn out.

Ka'aina Lol...sounds good! I want the led not only for the brightness but efficiency as well. If you can post a pic of your set up, I'd love to see it.

BeachBum2012 For that it'll be fine. I had a similar tank years ago and grew everything with two 13w cfl bulbs. You'll need to balance your co2 and ferts for sure. It'll grow in great and look very nice with the finnex setup.

E. Tenellus micro 'red' carpet with xmas moss up top.

Current setup with hanging finnex ray2

Hope this info is helpful. Good luck.

Intelik808 I think one might be ok. I made the mistake of buying two and over the weekend I had a bba out break. But this weekend I'm gonna head to city mill to see if I can make one hanger\mount for the two rays and hang it aprox 12" I'll let you know how it turns out. Lol if it doesnt I'll sell you my extra one i only used it for two days.

Ka'aina Thanx, I'll be with pressurized Co2 and I was thinking about hanging it 6-8" above the tank. I'm gonna be doing a tree theme with Xmas moss and dwarf hair grass, nothing else just simple. Think the ray2 would be ok?

jbrady33 You will need co2 injection with a ray2, unless you hang it pretty high. A Fugeray would be better if you are going low tech

BeachBum2012 Depends on what you want to grow and how high you want to hang the light above the tank. Sitting on the rim you should be able to grow just about anything. Hanging six inches pluses you should still get good medium light.

I have a 30x14x18 tank with about 3" substrate. I wanted to get the rayII but I'm not sure if it will have enough par? I want to have it hanging and not mounted. Any help would be greatly appreciated...
