PlantedRich A nice large bastard type file will do it if you are not in a big hurry. I recommend getting a wooden handle so you are less likely to hurt yourself. Cutting is more a matter of scoring/snapping the plastic but you can also cut it with a saw if you have access. I use a radial arm saw but it tends to melt on the blade if you saw too fast.
Look for ways to support it as it does tend to warp downwards if it spans too far.

Diana Invest in a Dremel or similar tool.
Buy extra of the Lexan and practice. The small attachments that work with the Dremel are just right for that sort of thing. My son has made a couple of covers for several tanks with this method. He can make nice rounded corners, ease the edges, make nice cut outs for equipment... Any of the 'plastic' (acrylic and all its relatives) are pretty easy to work with on this small scale.

Need help making a lid

Do you guys know how to find someone who cuts plexiglass? My 3 gallon tank came with a really cheap looking lid. It's acrylic but has a bluish tint to it so it doesn't look clear. I was hoping to buy some Lexan (I read somewhere that's the best stuff to get) and have someone cut it for me to match the shape of my current lid (it has rounded corners). Anyone on here do that?
