|Hoppy||It is hard to estimate how much PAR you get with two or three lights that are identical unless they are placed very close together. When you use a mix of different types of lights with unknown spacing it is pure guesswork as to how much PAR you will get.|

Thanks for the info. Since creating this post I did more reading on here and I'm thinking of using the "clamp lamp" cfl solution.
Given this new revelation, what I want to know now is, can I use three (3) clamp lamps using 15 watt bulbs at the front and keep the current light to the back? All lights will be placed directly over the tank and will not be hung above.
Would that give me an adequate amount of light.

|Hoppy||You could get low light with a pair of Coralife or FishNeedIt 2 bulb T5HO lights, with one near the back and one near the front of the tank.|

I have a 90 gallon tank (48"L * 18"W * 24"H) and I really want to fully plant it. I tried it before but clearly the lighting i was using was incorrect. Algae eventually overcame the plants and those that didn't fall due to algae, never really grew either, they just existed, never growing but not really dying either, even though they were low light plants, mainly cryptocoryne.
After doing some research, I realised that 1st off my lighting was way too low, 1 32W 3500k pink plant bulb.
I'd like to switch over to a T5HO fixture, how many 48" 6500k bulbs, do you think I would need for a lower light set up?
