At one point in the 70s there were 2 LFS almost catercorner from each other on Merrick Rd. in Rockville Center. The shop on the south side had a SEA TURTLE in a big glass tub!
Picked up these guys at a hole-in-the-wall LFS in Chinatown a few weeks ago. Dicrossus friggin' maculatus! The male has colored up nicely since I brought him home & they've recovered from the Ich that came with them. BTW, they were labeled as checkerboard barbs!

And for those of you who are older like me and live on LI, the stores I'm referring to were on Jerusalem Avenue in Bellmore (I don't remember the name of the place), Sunrise Highway in Massapequa, Hempstead Tpke in Bethpage (I think it was just called Pets) and Broadway in Massapequa (I believe that it was called S&K or S&T Aquarium). The Golden Guppy was on Nassau Road in Roosevelt, not too far from Uniondale Avenue.
Sorry for the long post, but I enjoyed my little trip down memory lane!

It's a shame about AG. Although they carried mostly bread-and-butter type fish they occasionally had some really cool rarities. Another LFS bites the dust.

The Kings Highway has curviceps in 2 tanks. In one are 2 or 3 fairly large specimens & are marked $6.99 each. In the other tank, which they're sharing with some 4" tinfoil barbs, are a bunch of smaller ones. There's no price sticker but one of the workers said I could have them for $5.00 each.
Aquarium Gallery has a big sign on the window that says 20% off, but I wasn't able to stop in & find out 20% off what.

|xev11||Pacific has has planaria in those tanks for months now. I don't think they want to do anything even though I asked the guys how they should rove it and they knew a shrimp safe method.|

I went to pacific in today. They don't have any new fish/plant except I saw a lot of Planaria in their shrimp tanks

Monster aquarium in flushing has been getting them regularly. If you subscribe to their Facebook page they usually post weekly stock lists.
