acitydweller If u are mixing your own dry ferts, just remove the ingredients listed earlier.
10-05-2012 03:19 PM
eeng168 ph - 6.6
ammonia - 0
nitrate - 40
nitrite - 0
phosphate - more than 10
gh - 3
kh - 3

Acclimating, who has time for that? (that was a joke, but yes...i don't do it)

pm'ed Rachel, she said the shrimps can't handle the nitrate, way too high.

So, although my plants are thriving, I think I found the culprit. Going forward, for the mini tank for my son, no more dry ferts..will stick with just root tabs

acitydweller Kno3 should be eliminated or dialed back if you are doing ei ferts as the nitrates can quickly exceed 20ppm within days. Also inverts have had adverse effects from plantex CSM-b from what I read so this also may need to be dialed back or eliminated as part of your regiment.

Bluek24a4 Always drip acclimate!!!

But I think something has to be off in his parameters also.
10-05-2012 08:34 AM
aokashi I always drop mine straight in and never had a problem >.>
but I think his params are kind of whack...

Bluek24a4 I have groups of oto's in both my shrimp tanks and never saw an issue between them.

What are the parameters of these tanks and how did you acclimate these shrimp?
10-05-2012 07:06 AM

No, I know 3 are dead...I pulled the bodies out of the tank before.

I also have a very strong suspicion that an Otto I put in the little 4 gallon has something to do with the missing shrimps. Before the addition, the shrimps colored up nicely, was molting and eating. Any truth to this? Will ottos bother shrimps?

Monster Fish Oh, ok. Keep a watch on your CO2 and don't overdo it.

eeng168 Ok, its official now, I will call my tank...The Tank of Death for Shrimps.

I somehow killed off my amano shrimps that I just got yesterday.

Who actually kills off hardy amanos?!? Apparently me.....

Before that, 12 blue Rilis didn't make it either. And this past summer, I Lost over 150 crs, babies and all. I blame that on the extreme NYC heatwave this year.
