concepts88 They would have done better if they shown some low tech tanks. Simple tanks with java ferns, swords, etc with regular lightning. This way people who were interested can get into it without a hi tech setup. It would have also done them good if they sold more fishes in fish only tanks. They had the room. This at least brings in cash flow, but i am not the owner and i would never advise another person how to run their business. But I was in their store since the very grand opening and bought a few hundred dollars worth of stuff (ada rocks) I run my own business but i do not want to insult entrepreneurs sometimes, it ruins their moral. Certainly they had the space to do more. But the low tech would have sold a lot more tanks because some people don't want to dump thousands into co2 and hi tech lighting. The co2 bottle will probably scare off 25% of the people just from the looks. I also didnt understand why they had plants under low tech light, they could have used so e heavy duty lights and split off the plants for profit weekly. Perhaps for algae control. I don't know.

Sorry, I do not remember where exactly off 17 they are headed.

I was there a few times when it had just opened up and they were not quite stocked up yet (livestock or hardware). I think this shop would have ended up doing very well, as they seemed to be headed in the right direction.

I hope to see them work through some local shops, as I was really hoping to get my hands on one of those tanks.

shloken38 From everything I am hearing, they may open their new spot to the public once or twice a month.

acitydweller i absolutely loved going and taking people to this store. It was a hidden gem in my honest opinion. I like dealing with both John and Peter. they were not shy about talking about the livestock, ada products and other aquaria topics. though ridgewood is a tad far for many of us coming from the 5 boroughs, i never failed to leave the shop empty handed. This is one store i am sad to see close but hope they can continue to bring products to the local area shops.

Jack Gilvey I'd certainly visit as well. I've tried calling and emailing to no avail.

shloken38 They were actually open on Sundays. And believe it or not, they weren't too boutique at all. They had excellent prices and beautiful, healthy plants and a great selection to boot. They started carrying more livestock towards the end....mostly nano fish. I actually really liked this store and am sad to see it go. They were good guys working in there.

Jack Gilvey Thanks for the update, Dave. Just found out about this place but too late unfortunately. Might have been a bit too boutique, even for Ridgewood and its environs. Blue laws couldn't have helped a hobby-related walk-in business like this, either.

Dave6265 I was in here last weekend, close the book on this store... Just about everything was moved out, any tanks left had half/no water in them.

The person working there said they were moving to a warehouse off the highway of 17 and were going to focus on wholesale and online business. They may open once a month or so to the public.
