diwu13 What if you just move the filter off the platform and hit it between some rocks? Would that work? Save you the trouble

doncityz Just a little update.
The floaters seem to be adjusting to the low sunlight that they're getting under the porch.
The turn themselves to smaller sizes and they start to multiplying as well.
Not really worth a pic yet.
Other plants seem to be doing well. The lily plant now has 5-6 flowers...
The Java fern is growing nice in there... bright green leaves. i really should remember to take a photo of it later..

I'm still thinking what to do on the platform. My current thoughts is just to put lots of cactus plants in small pots on there.

doncityz diwu, I already did a WC and cleaned up pond right after, all fish seems ok. Actually I was lucky that he throw in a WHOLE puff. if it was a halfway eaten one, the internal fillings of the puff might cause some serious water contamination.

diwu13 Uhoh... at least they didn't throw in like a hot dog or something o.O

Was there any harm caused by the curry-puff?

doncityz Here's a story you don't hear often. Yesterday some neighbors came by to visit and chit chat. Their kids came over as well. So after they went back, it was night, and I didn't notice anything. Today morning, went to the pond to feed dorothy and dolly, to my surprise, there is a one whole curry-puff in there. kids! lol

doncityz Nope, the temperature i mentioned is the ambient temperature of air. the water is a lot cooler, since the pond is under the porch.
03-19-2012 01:15 AM
diwu13 Hm.. think that temperature will be a problem for the goldfish? Will you need to find a way to cool the pond or anything?

doncityz the plug was totally ok before. but now after i put some java moss it gets clogged a bit. but i just cleaned it up, looks fine now.

here it gets very hot ... about 28-32deg C outside. the water level drops about half inch in a week.
03-16-2012 10:54 PM
diwu13 Oh I see. Is that mesh plug clogging at all?

Btw... how hot does it get in the summers there? Will it be a problem for the outdoor pond?
03-16-2012 04:29 AM
doncityz Oh, the powerhead do have some sort of mesh plug at the intake. just no sponge.
03-14-2012 01:16 PM
diwu13 Hm... maybe some mesh or something. Not sure if the tetras you have in there might get sucked up. I know the goldfish would be too large.

No. Should I?

diwu13 That's pretty cool haha. It's like your own canister filter. If you made the system air tight then it wouldn't even have to sit on a raised platform like you have it. Then it will be exactly like a cansiter filter haha!
