|HolyAngel||So are you using a standard UGF plate or one of those PVC style tube ones with holes in it?|

|1aqumfish||In the old days UGF were tank killers using air stones and lift tubes, they work like a charm until they just get overwhelmed with muck and the tank crashes overnight. Then I think it was the salt people who figured out you could reverse the flow with a power head and not have a problem. The way you are doing it sounds optimal using the output of the filter to supply the UGF keeping the system clean and healthy. The old days were frustrating but they did have some things right.|

It's so funny folks get hung up on what's not used anymore, like it was never any good. I have always liked the UGF and to me the ultimate hidden equipment tank would be a tank with a drilled bottom and a UGF with a ton of bio media.

|dxiong5||Cool projects, that's a neat UGF and Purigen reactor.|

Donnie, I put seachem matrix over the ugf, its a biomedia.
And senior, I have a tank of just africana and a tank of just amazonia, a tank of just fluval stratum, they're all ph 5.

|doonie||Do you use a screen or any thing over the pvc or just add your substrate ?|

That's such a cool setup! I fully appreciate how awesome it is. Ugfs are pretty cool too. And I vote you get some PRL because they are just completely snazzy.
