EECame Thanks for the replies all... I ended up testing it and everything was in a good range. I don't have the numbers in front of me however.

I'm not worried so much about the chloramine as I treat and age the water I use in my smaller tanks... my future 55 gallon project will be too much water to age but it will still be treated, haha.

theblondskeleton It's ok just watch out - every year they flush the system with chloramine. For about a week and a half all the water from the tap is lethal to fish, with chloramine so high it's off of the test charts.

Da Plant Man Or test your water with a test kit. Generally, stable is better than fluctuation. I think you'll be fine.

Algae Beater what are the parameters out of the tap? your municipality should have that info available to you either online or otherwise

Hey all, quick question regarding water hardness... is the Vancouver water hard enough to support common aquarium plants with having to go through the extra headache of manipulating water chemistry?

Any input would be appreciated.
