Tried to join, but keeps rejecting my "answer this question" answer. If you can, please let the SCAA forum admin know he/she needs to check the registration question.

kamikazi honestly there aren't any good stores for plants anywhere. most sale the same old same old. there is a lfs in my town and one in hickory that will special order anything I want as long as their supplier has it. other option is going to fish club meetings and getting plants and trimmings from members.

I'm not in any huge hurry. I'll be happy to work with your schedule.

I finally stopped in at Petworld in Boiling Springs this week. Nice, old-fashioned store that actually has individual tanks with isolated water. Not that recirculated, infection-spreading system used by most stores now. A little elevated on some items (shrimp $$, as mentioned), but if I need stuff and he's in shouting range of mail-order pricing, I'll use him! I did get an earful on the new healthcare law while I was browsing, but a nice guy.

Thanks, I had not thought about Gastonia. I tried Fintastic in Charlotte when I had to pick up someone from CLT airport. Neat store, some very cool, but slightly overpriced equipment. Fish prices were ok, not outstanding but they had a good variety of species. The staff I spoke with were not well-informed. No floating plants when I was there.

You wouldn't happen to have any extra floating plants to sell, trade, or RAOK, other than pennywort, or Duckweed, by chance?

prjct92eh2 CRS or RCS? I have some RCS that are starting to populate. Should be able to sell some in about a month.
03-30-2011 03:15 AM
sjuapseorn You know what.. if they carry CRS cheaper than 5.50 a shrimp I might just have to visit the competition...

*sigh* nice guy.. way too expensive on shrimp..

prjct92eh2 btw u noticed the other day they are building a Saluda River Pet store on hwy. 9 near Pet World. They carry fish too. Should be interesting to see how that plays out.

prjct92eh2 Yup, German guy. That place is one exit from my work so I stop there all the time on the way home from work. I got my angelfish (see other thread in this forum), an assassin snail, Sera shrimp food and other miscellaneous stuff from there. I gave him some trimming about 2 months ago, they are in one of the 55 gallon tanks by the salt water stuff. Probably not doing too well since they were used to high light, but oh well. btw I always have extra HC and glosso if you want some.

sjuapseorn I went by this place.. it's called PetWorld in Boiling Springs.

Nice place..
The owner is super nice guy. He seems to know a good bit about plants and all too so that makes me happy. Oh and he even sells Cherry Shrimpies..

I saw several really nice Betta in his tanks.. too bad I'm having so much trouble with my 4g right now that I thought was cycled (nope I was dead wrong) or I'd have gotten the black and silvery looking one I saw today.. he was BEAST!!!!

the more I think about it the more I wanna start back with bettas... they're super interesting fish to watch, plus this pet store has a sorority tank for females!!!!!!!
+1 on him for that.

On a funny note... his cherry shrimp go INSANE for Sera crab bites... I think he trained em to do that to drum up sales lol.. I bought a can and my shrimp are like.. WTF is this?!? Heh I can't win for losing!!
