mistergreen put the rocks in a tub of aquarium water. add a little ammonia & micros. Put it in the sun and bingo, GSA & GDA on the rocks. It's an old trick for hillstream loaches.

BradH I say go for it oldpunk. I think it will be cool. Not sure what to suggest as far as moss or algae goes though. If you could find an algae it would be different and something not done alot.

Crystalview I like the moss look here is a tank that is trimmed nice with moss

jjp2 you may need a fairly wide tank to get the illusion of the height and lenght. Start low in a front corner and work to high in the back opposite, gradulually slopping it front to back and side to side.

Jag1980 Isn't there a nice green type of algae that will cover rocks like the look of those pictures? I'm sure that would be very hard to do though..

bgzbgz I say moss balls would look almost exactly like the moss in the picture but they grow super slow.

PinoyBoy maybe cladophora? or whatever mossballs are made out of.

oldpunk78 someone also suggested mini pellia(sp?).
02-08-2009 04:00 AM
Martin Schellinck It's possible...take a look at this scape
Another option besides those fissidens sp's could be weeping moss depending on the tank size

medicineman You may want to try fissidens on rocks.
Moss just somewhat hard to get the look as they tend to get long and end up covering the rocks.

I've seen it done somewhere....

oldpunk78 yup! and a lot of moss...

here, i should have cropped the original to what i thought it might look like in a tank.
