fishboy87 I removed the SAE and there s hardly anything left of the UG but hopefully there is enough to let grow back. Even though I really doubt it

MedRed that stinks... i guess my sae's have enough stuff to nibble on that they don't care about the UG. i'm going to need to get some more UG. I may end up redoing the 5.5 mini-m with ug...

fishboy87 Well, the UG that I recently got seemed to be doing well and then my tetras and SAE decided to have a snack. It is still alive but all of the tips are chewed and the chunk floated to the surface. I clipped off the plant portion of a fake foreground plant I had in a closet and it turned into a crossed plant weight -that floats-. So I went outside and gathered 4 small rocks to weight down each end. I figure that because UG grows so thick that it will cover the rocks and "weight". At least if the fish would bite it that the roots will first have a chance to establish themselves. What do you guys think of this? I'll post pics in a little to show more specifically what I mean.

fishboy87 Any more carpets?

fishboy87 Was that the last pic before you took it down because that UG looked like it was forming a great carpet!!! When you get that tank set-up again, be sure to post progress pics as the UG grows!

jrs I had this in a 20g with 2x65W and press CO2. This was a pic in late May before I took the tank down at the end of the school year. I will re-establish the tank and UG in the next week or so.

fishboy87 I'm getting it from another member on this forum. You can put up a WTB on the swap n' shop and see if anyone has any.
There is also who have pretty good service from what I've heard.

fishboy87 I just want to see some UG I haven't already seen 20 times on google images even though several are amazing. I don't care if its patches or a full carpet but I just want to see something new. MedRed, please share the next time you take pics

MedRed i don't have a carpet yet... just a patchwork quilt. The next update to the cube will gladly include my quilt.

Minsc For what it is worth, the UG in my tank is growing steadily while my HC has all but died. It really doesn't seem to be all that difficult a plant, the biggest challenge has been training it to send it's runners under the substrate.

i had about 5 in a 90 they still ate it but it grew too fast, alot of the tips were chewed tho
my amanos must be well trained. I have several algae eaters in the tank including SAE's and nerite snails. I just inspected the UG and none of it shows signs of being chewed at all.
