And I have two different types that I am not sure - one looks like the "Y" shaped riccia that I am seeing here on this thread, and the other is very dark green and more translucent and large wavy type "leaves" with no roots...is it also riccia?
Thanks for putting up with my ignorance on this.

Those are some great riccia pics. I have this small nano in the bedroom. Really simple little scape, but the Riccia is growing great with no filter, no co2, and I get pearling after a few hours of afternoon sunlight the rest of the time (interesting) it's only lit by the little Rio Sun LED.

|jccaclimber||Seems like this thread needs a bump. No pictures, but I keep trying to find a not too high maintenance way to keep it alive. I thought about an LED inside mesh holding it down (for a ball) but that seemed like way too much work. Do they make waterproof trimmers like the ones barbers use?|

Can i like riccia but hate the u. gibba that always seems to tag along?

I going to join. I was going to wait till I had to trim it to see how much a chore it was, but it seems real easy.

anyone know how to trigger more pearling on a Ricca carpet (aside from w/c)
my former tank with ADA soil, it'll pearl 90% of the surface, now with plain gravel, only 30% at best. Is it a nutrient thing? ?
