J_Douglas Back in the ’90 when I was editor for the Houston Aquarium Society, I had a page call “The Fish Calendar” and it was the only place I could find all the fishy event in one place. Last year I did the Fish Calendar for my own convenience, but I also posted in a few place including the Houston Fish Box and the Planted tank. I know that my post in the Planted tank generated interest in the FOTAS convention.

Now I am asking my Aquarium Club friends to help put together a Fish Calendar for the New Year. Just replay to this email with any events you think should be on the Fish Calendar.

BoxxerBoyDrew BEAUTIFUL FISH!!!!

Man I SOOOOOO WANTED TO GO TO THE SHOW, but I wound up having to stay at the farm and watch over a few Cows who were due to drop their calves at any minute! My Parents had to make a unplanned trip to South Texas, so I just couldn't make it, and I was less than 45 minutes away too!!! I just want to cry after seeing those pics and hearing about how good of show it was!

I am going to mark the next years show on all of our calenders this weekend, so my Wife and I can make it 4 sure!!!!

Thanks for the info and Pics of the AWESOME FISH!!!

polukoff What a great turnout! My grilfriend (bettascapes) won best in show male and female for the new breeder class of bettas. We won with a few other fish but we didn't stick around long enough to find out exactly which fish placed. There were 56 entries in the new breeder class and alot of stiff competition. I posted the Best in show blood parrot Discus and the peoples choice was Gerald Griffin (another betta breeder) with his wolf fish. Hope to see everyone next year in Houston and everyone in September for the next IBC betta Show!
I didn't any pictures of the betta fish but there was something to the tune of 350+ entries. We have alot of video to upload so it might be awhile before I can get it all up. The first fish is best in show.

J_Douglas The Babes in the Cichlid Hobby is an organization that besides having a whimsical name also raises money for conservation organizations, including the Stuart Grant Conservation Fund. Every year at the American Cichlid Association convention they have auction with Caroline Estes as auctioneer. When the Federation of Texas Aquarium Societies Convention is hosted by a Cichlid club, they will have a silent auction on Saturday of Aquarium Books and club t-shirts. See below for a list of books I will be donating.

The Color Nature Library – Aquarium Fish by Jane Burton
Handbook of Discus - Jack Wattley
Chicness Goldfish –Foreign Languages Press Beijing
Koi Varieties - Herbert Axelrod
The Tetra Encyclopedia of Koi
Cichlids of North & Central America – Don Conker
3 binders of FAMA from the mid 80’s

BoxxerBoyDrew J,

Thanks for all of the info! I have never been to anything like this, and I will have to talk to the Wife and see if I can try to go! The Family Farm is on the north side of Corsicana, about 45 min away, so I could make all 3 days!

Thanks Again for the info!!!
