Problem with Grand Solar I Metal Halide

Aloha

I have an ADA Grand Solar I. A few days ago the 150w Metal Halide bulb burnt out. Luckily I had a replacement. Unluckily I think there may be something wrong with the ballast or light. The MH bulb will only stay lit for about an hour then turn off for 15 minutes, then turns back on & repeats the process.

To answer a few of your questions...the ballast is hung outside of the stand with proper airflow, all of the connections have been checked & re-checked, I removed the timer to help troubleshooting. The Power Compact fluorescent lights are not affected. Also the ballast is very hot to touch and is making more noise than I remember.

Have you seen this problem before?

Update...the MH appears to remain lit when a fan is blowing on the ballast.
