New year, new layout.
Fish seem to be doing well currently.

Forgot I took this pic a few weeks ago, this is what I meant by a little neglected:

Thanks for the tips MOT.
I took out the DHG since it was always getting dug up and added a Blyxa japonica.
I have removed one of my Panda cories twice now for showing signs of swim bladder disease. In the hospital tank I tried to feed him peas and bloodworms (he didn't touch the peas), then he got better and I put him back in but after a week or so he started laying around upside down again. Also the keyhole chiclid had a hole on his body which I thought might be hole in head and got some metronidazole and have given a couple of feedings of that mixed up in some Mysis shrimp (based on LFS advice). The hole is no longer fuzzy, and I'm starting to wonder if he just had an injured scale that got infected in some way. Trying to feed less and more variety. Also been doing more frequent and bigger water changes. The tank was a little neglected for a month or two. I think I need to be more diligent. I am also thinking of taking out all the plants temporarily and doing a really thorough gravel vac.

|mot||I saw your rope light idea for imitating stars in a night sky. If you want to go for a night sky what I found to work best is using a blue background several inches from the back glass and back lighting it. Then once the plants are pearling take your photos. If you search the threads for Piercing Sky you will see the effect Im talking about. PM me if you want more info.|

Found three baby pandas in the tank this morning, maybe there are more maybe not.
At the last local plan club meeting I bought Lindernia rotundifolia 'variegated', microsum pteropus 'trident', Pogostemon yatabeanus, and microsorum sp mini tropica.

Thanks keepin on,
The finnex is nice but I still use my old dual T5 HO for a midday burst. Since doing so the hairgrass filled in much nicer and I'm getting better reds deeper down on my L. peruensis.
I like having the glass lids to keep down evaporation. But if you don't like the lid idea maybe you could put in some floaters like frogbit, depending on what you want to grow below it.

|keep_on_keepin_on||I love the start til now on your tank! It has come so far and like all, has had many hurdles. I just got my finnex ray2 today for my 55 & really like the look. I don't have lids on my tank & leave the water level just under the rim & haven't had any fish jump yet, but am REALLY worried about my normal headstander. He is the 'man' of the tank & was 20. so kinda playing with fire leaving it open.... Love the red in your plants. really sets it apart from others.|

Played around with some photo ideas for maybe entering a contest. The rope light I had laying around, but did not give the star effect I was sort of hoping for. It just looks like someone had some rope light laying around.
Then played around with a little green spot.

Yeah, I took off the lid and hung a separate light to let it grow up out of the top to see if it would flower but I don't like having so much water evaporate everyday so I just cut it in half and put the top in my 30 gallon grow out tank. It has like 5 side shoots starting to grow out of it.

I love the way this has evolved. As we are all seeing, when you scape with stem plants it never looks the same twice. This is okay - maybe even more than okay since it IS the hobby.
You might need to say goodbye to that redwood though.
