Searching for a low tech 40B tank I came across this. This is my dream tank.
Still got it? If yes, I would like to see a pic of it.

|sewingalot||Giant hygro would be nice. Swords do fine in low tech, just grows a lot slower. Which is a good thing for some sword plants. Make sure you put in root tabs and they'll be happy. When I went low tech, I used this guy for inspiration: http://www.plantedtank.net/forums/sh...=111996&page=6 Maybe it'll help you as well.|

|Erica||I haven't updated this in quite awhile. I keep trying different things. I added pressurized co2 and ferts. But even with all of that I'm still not happy with the way my stems look in this tank. I'm going to be setting up a high tech 29 gallon, so I'm thinking of moving my stems and my co2 to that tank, and keeping this one really simple. I'm struggling with what plants to put in the background though. I've been considering some type of sword, but I read a lot of conflicting info about how they do in a low light/no c02 tank. Giant hygro is another plant I'm considering. Any suggestion would be really appreciated.|

I keep making changes here and there experimenting with different plants so it always seems to be in a constant state of needing to grow out, lol.
I'm loving the DIY co2. It makes my rotala grow like crazy and with much nicer color.
I'm trying A Reinecki, but for some reason this plant doesn't seem to like my tank very much. It' still fairly new though, so I'm giving it some time.
I got rid of my moss rocks. Up close they just looked messy and the moss was growing over itself causing there to be a layer of dead moss against the rock. I'm trying Lilaeopsis Mauritiana in its place.

Just wanted to add a little update. Things have been going well, but I decided I would like them to do even better so I just started up DIY co2. I'm also going to be adding Flourish comprehensive from now on.
I'm planning on changing things up in the tank a little bit. I think I'm going to try A. Reineckii again now that I have more light and am adding co2. Hopefully it won't melt like it did when I first set up the tank.
I've also added Furcata rainbows to the tank. I'm probably a bit overstocked in most people's opinion, but they are awesome! My tetras and gouramis had been acting quite blah and skittish. But now that I've added the rainbows, it's like the tank has come to life. Everyone is so much more active. All along I had thought that my tetras were my gouramis dither fish, but it turns out my tetras needed dither fish, lol.

Everything is doing well. I've added frogbit and did a bit of rearranging with the crypts to make room for the lotus. The lotus is now where they crypt wendtii reds in the front of the tank were. I also got more Italian Vals so now my heater is well hidden which looks much better. I just hacked my stems because quite a few had grown to the surface, so I wont be doing any full tank pics until they grow back in, lol.

Love this tank. So much. Amazing this is your first tank. Hope you keep it up. I'd love to see what you do in a 4ft or 6ft tank.
Keep us updated. Hows it all growing in?

Just wanted to add an updated photo of one of my tiger lotus bulbs. Out of four bulbs, two were duds that never sprouted. one sprouted but hasn't grown since. Thankfully I got one good one that is doing great.

|sewingalot||LOL, I was just looking at that site the other day. I bet that is why I like it as most of it's collected in the appalachian next of the woods. My backyard. It's gorgeous! Okay, I am picking up my chin from the floor now over your tank.|

You should feel special! I've been on this board for over three years now and I am rarely taken aback by tank at first glance as much as I was by yours. Not to mention your photography skills are superior to match. I really think you could win competitions with that tank, no joking.
Forgive me if I over looked this, but what kind of wood is that?
