Good aquarium plant but beware if you keep clown loackes they like to snap the branches leaving them floating on the surface.

This stuff is an absolute weed once established. Will grow in most any conditions. Can be a maintenance shore in high-light co2 injected tanks.

What a lovely plant! Seasonally available in the NY tri-state area through Petland Discounts. Hair algae magnet. Need bright light or gets leggy.

This species needs frequent trimming or it will soon take over the tank. I had a bad case of hairy algae and had to toss most of it out. Then it started melting. I found out that a shortage of potassium in my tank was the cause. By that time I was down to about one stem. I amended my water and now it's back to trying to take over the tank again.

Nice plant to keep in bunches. The tips of mine turn pink when they reach the surface of my tank, under 2wpg!

Very nice plant, fast growing, beautiful, but it is a real weed and potentially invasive so please dispose of it by keeping it out of your local waters.

Under low light growth is more compact. Internodal distance increases with lighting. Have found "leaf" width to vary greatly also.

Ernie

This is the only plant my clown loaches ever distubed. They would snap the stem which eventually killed the plant.

Roop

My favourite noxious weed. Even at 1.3 wpg, with no added ferts or CO2, it still needs to be cut back every few weeks. Pull out the leggier ones by the roots and replace them with cuttings from the bushier ones, and you'll build up a nice thick wall of green.

Please keep in mind this is a noxious weed. Accrodingly, the Missouri Aquarium Society Inc has banned it from it's horticultural program to encourage people not to propagate it and keep it from becoming a problem in Missouri.

They aren't kidding when they say that this stuff grows like a weed in a high light c02 injected tank. It is best planted in bunches and best reserved for a low tech, low light, non-c02 injected tank. IME, it also tends to grow more bushy in low light but much thinner and taller in high light. If you find yourself a dismal failure at growing aquarium plants, give this plant a shot. If this one does not grow for you, I am afraid nothing will.

Grows fast and is a great algae buster. Propigate by cutting side shoots. Remove leggy stems and replant healthier thicker stems. This plant over time will get leggy and it is important to cull out the leggy and keep the thick and strong.
