Easy to care of plant. Heavy root feeder, if you give it enough light, it will grow fast. I have it in 15g, but I think it is best suitable for larger tanks.

The Amazon Sword is one of the fewer plants that have been surviving in my tank with surprising resilience. It's been through bouts of algae bloom, really low pH conditions (~6.2-6.5), hard water, and a couple of human newbies at planted aquariums.

All throughout these changes in its environment, it's shown a wide variety of leaf growth and formation. Ranging from long-stemmed wide leaves to long-stemmed shorter leaves and then narrow leaves with no stems above the substrate level.. (??)

This plant is one of the hardiest aquarium plants I have ever had! Back in high school, before I even had a fish tank, I bought one of these at Petco and put it in my 1gal. Betta bowl! It survived in there for over a year, until my boyfriend bought me my first tank. It then lived in the 10gal. with standard aquarium lighting for another year, until I began slowly upgrading lighting, and it is still alive (with 2 offshoots) in my now medium-light tank. It's not huge like it can be, but it has grown runners and offshoots and has bloomed twice. I trimmed off all of the algae covered leaves recently, so it's not big right now but its still kicking! Overall, a great plant that will survive even those new to the planted aquarium- I definitely recommend it (although it is best in larger tanks).

I had three of these on pots on my Juwel 125, eventually had to sell two, as they really grew too big.

The one I have I now prune every two months, and new leaves just keep coming. Each leaf is about 20cm long, and the plant is just amazing to look at.

I do have CO2, but low light, only one 15W tube, but the plant still keeps on growing.

I had it now for arround 2 years, and I think that it will last another two.

A fantastic plant, especially if placed on a pot on a large tank.
