Planted Tank Gooroo
|
I have 2 female golden gouramis and the bigger one picks on the smaller one constantly no damage has been done at all but it is quite constant.

I have a 3-inch male and 1.5-inch female mixed with Bala sharks and Giant Danios in a 29g. All seems fine in paradise unless they mate then all bets are off, as some of the other inhabitants may have to be removed to protect them from the father gourami. The male is simply beautiful and adds a lot to the tank. As long as you provide cover in the form of rocks, plants (plastic or live) they should peacefully co-exist.

I had two females the same size. One would push the other into the corner of the tank. As they got bigger (about 4") the more aggesive she got until...you know the rest. I thought getting two females would be ok. Not in this case. As a note, she is very peaceful with the other fish.

I had a golden gourami in with an angelfish, 2 silver dollars, an albino rainbow shark, a common pleco, and a blue gourami. All but the pleco, angelfish, and gouramis died of ich. Neither one of the gouramis ever had ich and this tank (a 46 gallon bow front) had it bad. They must be unseseptable to disease. The golden gourami was so mean, we put him in a tank with nothing, and he still lives! The blue gourami though is very peaceful.

This fish is very pretty. Even though the full grown male is aggresive, they are a great fish to have!

I've had a male Golden Gourami for three years now. They are very graceful, especially when alone. However, I have found mine somewhat aggressive with other species. I also wanted to agree with Kyle; mine has survived several Ich outbreaks and has never once had a single spot on him.

My golden gourami has killed a platy, neon tetra and a guppy. It's almost killed my red honey gourami, so I'm moving it to a seperate tank. I had no idea it would grow so big and be so agressive.

I have two male golden gourami's in a 70g tank. The live very peacefully with the other fish; three guppies, two phantom tetras and three sailfin plecs. The larger male (about 5cm) picks on the smaller one (about 3cm) and has started shredding its tail!!! Be warned, these fish are teritorial within their species

I found one of my gold gouramis to be extremely aggressive to all of the others in a community tank. A beautiful fish, but too aggressive.
