I love this fish, it is in my main plant tank along with a few cory's and Congos. I have noticed that it is a little aggressive toward the corys, just chases them a little, and they are bigger then he is!

My pictus is great, i think that they are the best catfishes. Mine eats just about anything from flakes to shrimp pellets, He's around 4 in.

The Pictus Catfish is an unbelievably healthy addition to any tank. This nocturnal scavenger will simply vacuum up any scraps of food that would otherwise foul your tank. They are fun and very smart. Our two are in a tank full of rambunctious cichlids who are otherwise carnivores and should be predators for these scaleless fish. Not so! Once one of the cichlids tries to take a bite out of poor old Pictus, they get a NASTY sting and a sharp serrated barb through the mouth and instantly learn a hard lesson! I'll go so far as to say that a Pictus is necessary for every aquarium. Think of them as a wonderful janitor...with weapons to protect themselves!

Steve

Lovely little chap, problem is, I never see him.

Penn

I just got my pictus cat and it's my favorite fish in the tank. It's not very aggresive towards the other fish at all. I have it in the tank with blue gouramis and a blue botia and it does fine.

Drew

I have four silver tip sharks about six inches long. I recently got four pictus cats at about two inches. Every night one of the pictus goes and hangs out with the silver tips like he is a member of the pack. They all get along swimmingly (sorry about the lousy pun).

Lee Murphy

Great catfish looks awesome, mine eats shrimp pellets, krill, and hot dogs.

I think the Pictus is a very beautiful fish. I have one and he eats everything!!! Including some of my live fish!!! For some reason, if I add some smaller fish to the tank, they seem to disappear! And I search everywhere for them and I can't find them so I just assume that the Pictus eats them! But I still love him.

Beth

This is a great fish. Of course, any fish that can 'grunt' when netted is great in my book.

Mike Taylor

One of the prettiest fish in my tank. Gets along great with everyone but is VERY territorial, especially towards pleco. Never really see him though, because spends most of the day hiding.

Cam

He looks beautiful but we have found him to be terribly territorial. He is constantly swimming vertically up-and-down the tank. If another fish annoys him, he will chase them well away. Very moody.

Pictus Cats are Schooling- People who have trouble with 1 of them should realize they should get at least a couple more. These fish will grow crazy if kept alone.

Gwendolyn MacEwan

I brought home another pictus to partner up the incumbant as many suggested. Two days later the incumbant killed the newbie.

Pictus cats are great for scraping your aquarium, and should be kept in small schools of 3. If you introduce a new pictus to the old ones it will take them a couple days to adjust and find the pecking order. They are not real smart fish.

holly

I have had these interesting fish before and they are great during the day, but at night (especially when the smaller fish are sleeping) I think they tend to get a little more aggressive. When it ate my guppies it was always when the light was out, give them plenty of room and keep them with bigger fish.

I have 3 of these wonderful fish in a 55 gallon tank. They are very interesting to watch. I know they say no tank breeding is known, but one of my fatter pictus is in the back of the tank hovering over some grass and will case and attack anything that gets close(even a net and my python cleaning tool). I'm not sure but I guess I'll see what happens. But all 3 usually get along with all the other fish even pleco. The are very wonderful fish. I love them even the mean one in the back (who may be a mommy).

I am very sad. I loved my playful Pictus catfish. Sadly my Jack Dempsey killed him.

I love this little guy. He is about 6 inches long. The only thing I'm having trouble with, is he is a fast fish and dashes around the tank pulling up my plants that I have to replant almost daily.
