My German Ram is like a multi-coloured tank. He is the boss of my 29 gallon aquarium, that's for certain! Rams are gorgeous fish- they look like they belong in a saltwater aquarium. They're delicate, but well worth it. They like to pause, display their borgeous fins, and then charge at food, or another fish. Mine hasn't caused any damage, however. He just likes showing the tetras who's boss. They are also adept at swimming backwards.

Great fish to have in your aquarium. I have a male and two females in my 60 gallon aquarium. I put a few plants and some "mangle bottom" pieces of wood and pow! they start spawning every month. the male usually eat the fry wile the fry try to hatch. So I had to put a flat rock over the spawning area and after the eggs are laid, I have to remove the rock so they can hatch. Very nice fish for a community tank.

I have heard these fish are supposed to be shy and reclusive, but the two I have are anything but that. Maybe its because I keep them with a bunch of tetras and cory cats and they get a lot of space to themselves in my 30 gallon amazon tank.

My rams are great addtions to my 55 hex community. They are not at all shy, and they love to pose. The even hold their own at feeding time with angels, a gourami, and some various barbs. Great fish.

German Rams make a great addition to aquariums that need a little burst of colour. They are enjoyable to watch and like to be in herems, which would consist of 1 male and 2 or 3 females. They are also in the Geophagus grouping and love to rearrange their surrounds. If you would like to try your hand at breeding them, make sure that you have a well planted aquarium with small grain like substrate and wood.

My pair of rams are the favorite of my fish. They reside in a 20 gal planted tank with a few tetra and ottos on my kitchen bar. They're very curious. Whenever I am near the tank, they always come over and check out what I am doing. If I'm doing dishes on one side, they'll wiggle behind the plants to check it out. If I'm looking at the fry in the next tank, they'll get down in the corner of theirs and check me out The male loves to show off his awesome finnage! He's just beautiful

I have several different Ram split between two tanks, a 50gal and a 25gal, i keep the males separate from the females which prevents scrapping. Striking fish!

Easy to breed. They are easy to sex also, females bellies get pink when ready to spawn. They like to spawn in flower pots and tubes. Some parent fish will even raise the fry without eating them.

Watch out for the ultimate aggressor! I had 3 pairs of breeding rams and the alpha male killed rival male's female after that every thing went wacky the alpha male killed the other fishes most succumbed to their injuries. I find that the best ratio is 2 males 4 females
