Paradise Fish have vibrant colors that will add excitement to any aquarium. These colors seem to be most prominent after feeding. They are best kept in pairs and are actually sub-tropical and can be kept in colder than normal water. They are peaceful and I have never had a problem with my pair.

I have 3 paradise fish. My largest is at least 4", if not more. The other two are smaller, one is albino one the normal veriant...as far as I can tell all are males. The albino and the larger one get along fine and are usually 'peaceful', however, the smaller normal variant is aggressive which has brough out agression in my larger one. From my experience, every paradise fish is different, some are great community fish while others must be kept alone. However, they are great fish that I recrommend for a child or the beginner as they are tough and quite beautiful.

I have one of the meanest paradise fish on the planet! This guy tries to eat fish larger than he is! Although he's alot of fun to watch, be sure to get the proper tank-mates. Every day I come home a guppy is either dead or missing. I recommend this fish only for a species-specific tank, and not a community one.

If you have a place to get live crickets, I discovered completely by accident that my paradise fish loves those. I was feeding my lizard when one fell in the fishtank. He went nuts! Now he gets one a couple times a week. I think he likes the fact that it moves.

Paradise fish? There was no paradise in my tank as long as that fish was in there. He couldn't get along with anyone and spent all of his time chasing the other fish around and nipping them. Everybody in the tank was stressed out (along with me) because of him. I finally moved him to his own tank. He's lucky I didn't flush him.

I just got a pair of male paradise fish. Little did I know they were such agressively natured fish. I have spent the last 24 hours watchig one fish chase and nip the other one all around the tank. I am assured they will develop a pecking order and settle down... we'll see.

Comment on the post by "Cate" - People should never blame the fish for the mistakes WE make in selecting appropriate tankmates. There are no "bad" fish -- just inexperienced fishkeepers.

These are not "peaceful" by any stretch. These are semi-aggressive fish, who set up territories (usually the entire tank or as much as they can) and will defend them to the death. They will bite at the flanks and fins of tankmates to chase them away- anything that's put in with a blue paradise should be able to hold its own.

Josh

A lot of people think these fish would be ideal tank mates for a male betta in a bowl, or some form of non-aerated tank. DONT DO THIS, Bettas and Paradise fish are from the same family and will fight just like the Betta on Betta. I found out the hard way! I also find that no paradise fish is truly "peaceful" I ended up giving mine away all to seperate homes!

Dawn

I love my paradise fish! They are awesome if you have them in the right setup! You need at least a 10 gallon, 20 gallon preferably. They are very territorial and more than one male should never be kept together unless they are in a really big tank (like 55 gallons) so they can have their own territory. They are great fish with great personalities that just need to be in the right setting.

My paradisefish have always been a joy to me! I've had fry three times and am currently raising my third batch of babies. Admittedly, I caught him with half a danio in his mouth once, but otherwise, I haven't witnessed over aggression from the male at any time except for when he has babies, and none from the female whatsoever. I have the two in a 55 gallon tank with tetras, danios, a few guppies, and a pleco, and they're fine. Before that, I kept the male in a ten with a few guppies and danios, and except for the one incident, had no bad occurences!

Gypsy

I have four of these guys in my 90, They hold their own with the larger fish and sometimes get the upper hand. I have had no problems between them and the other fish in the tank, even the opaline (Blue) Goramis that are more than 2x their size.

Paradise Fish can grow in excess of four inches, and are aggressive, territorial fish. My Paradise Fish has grown to about 4.25" from his mouth to the longest part of his tail, and won't tolerate anything other than a bristlenose pleco and some snails in his tank.

Hi, I have a male and female paradise fish in my aquarium and the both co-exist with the other tank mates (Pleco, Cory Cat's, Dwarf Algae Eater, Kissing Gourami and guppies)with no problems what so ever. Maybe I am just lucky

What a fantastic fish! Mine was with me for over 12 years. In terms of personality he couldn't be beat. He lived as a bachlor in a ten gallon with a trio of corys and a bristlenose catfish.
