A very beautiful, peaceful fish. They have very tiny mouths, so I find that I have to crush flake food very finely for them to be able to eat. I have a group of five of these and they usually school. It's fun to watch them flare at each other when they are courting. I recommens this fish for a peacful community tank.

I think there's different color forms of this fish depending on where they were collected. I had a nice school of smoky purplish blue ones. A great and easy to care for fish whose looks will really wow you especially when the males flare their fins at one another. I fed them the Hikari micro pellets due to the small mouths.

This is one of the most stunning species of fish good for planted tanks. It changes colors depending on it's mood. One day it can be salmon pink all over, the next day ink blue with a thick golden stripe on the back running from the tailfin to the tip of the mouth. If the light over the tank is rather red the fish exibit a lot of red and pink colors. Their behaviour is semi-schooling, always playful and spreading their fins to impress the others in the group. Yes, it is true - they do need fine food because of their small mouths. Make sure that when you buy them you don't get only females.

My absolute favorite fish at the moment. Their fins are so expressive! I will say that its better to go ahead and buy a group instead of adding them one, two or three at at a time. I've found it very important that the males be around the same size. here is why At first, on an impulse, I purchased three: one HUGE full grown male and two females....fell in love. When I decided to buy more, I discovered that full grown is a rare find, and had to buy juvies. The adult male harasses them to no end. Will not let them eat, swim, live, etc. Last week after another small male stressed to death, I put the giant male in a breeder net to allow the other guys time to grow big enough to hold their own. Maybe its just this particular fish, but he can be a SERIOUS butt to his fellow males.
