A very beautiful, peaceful fish. They have very tiny mouths, so I find that I have to crush flake food very finely for them to be able to eat. I have a group of five of these and they usually school. It's fun to watch them flare at each other when they are courting. I recommens this fish for a peacful community tank.
I think there's different color forms of this fish depending on where they were collected. I had a nice school of smoky purplish blue ones. A great and easy to care for fish whose looks will really wow you especially when the males flare their fins at one another. I fed them the Hikari micro pellets due to the small mouths.

This is one of the most stunning species of fish good for planted tanks. It changes colors depending on it's mood. One day it can be salmon pink all over, the next day ink blue with a thick golden stripe on the back running from the tailfin to the tip of the mouth. If the light over the tank is rather red the fish exibit a lot of red and pink colors. Their behaviour is semi-schooling, always playful and spreading their fins to impress the others in the group. Yes, it is true - they do need fine food because of their small mouths. Make sure that when you buy them you don't get only females.
