A very good algae eating fish when young. Constantly grazing for algae. You can substitute temporarily any lack of SAE, pleco or shrimp with this one. Highly territorial to the same species. Some tendency of agression towards intruders of the same family like SAE and flying fox. Only one should be kept in a tank to maintain peace. Plenty of space and hiding place needed should a company of same species is is kept under one tank. There is albino version of this species in today's market.

Also called a Ruby Shark, be careful as mine is extremly aggressive and territorial towards to many of the fish in my community, namely my tiger barbs and bala shark. A beautiful fish though, a real eye catcher in any tank.

A beautiful fish, just mine just attacks anything that comes near it. If the aggression could be taken out of it's system, it would be the perfect aquarium fish

Wonderful bottom dwelling fish. My albino version (see pic) is stunning against the lush green and red plants. Very evenly tempered, unless fighting for food. It seems to get along with my Hypostomus plecostomus quite well.

I had an albino shark that loved playing in a skull set i bough, he owned them! He enjoyed playing in the bubbles too and lying next to the filter. Poor thing, he died yesterday morning, nealry 4 years old! Great, easy fish to keep and very communal, though sometimes terrortorial (excuse the spelling).

The provision of a cave or hidey hole will calm this monster down somewhat. Will actively see off any fish of a similar body shape, like loaches for example.
Males have a black line on the anal fin.
