Honey gouramies need a well planted tank, with peacefull tankmates. Gouramies, like all labyrinthfish, have a special organ called the labyrinth with which they can take up oxygen from the air above the water of the tank. The tank should have a lid, so that the air above the water stays warm and moist and fit for the gouramies to "breathe". I've kept a pair of these a few years ago. It wasn't long before the male started making a bubblenest and eventually I had about fifty fry. I managed to raise only one of these fifty to adulthood; raising the fry of these fish is difficult because of their smallness when they hatch.

I have two of these guys. They are great little, colorful fish for any tank but, i've found the little buggers like to eat plants. Use caution with these guys if you use them in a planted aquarium.
