Vilma's Tetra is an interesting and rare fish to find in LFS's. It has a similar appearance and shape of the glowlight tetra, but it has a thick black and thin yellow-gold horizontal line running through its body. When in appropriate conditions, the yellow-gold line becomes bolder and white-blue tips on its anal/pelvic fins become noticeable. Vilma's Tetra is an extremely hardy fish and has the same environmental needs as other common tetras; slightly acidic pH and warm temperature from its habitat, Tapajós River Basin in Brazil. As it is a schooling tetra, it will flourish in the presence of its species. Not much has been documented about its breeding habits, but it shares the same of the glowlight tetra. During the acclimation process, the Vilma's Tetra will need some live food. Once fully acclimated and accustomed to its new tank it can be fed regular fish food.
