Algae Grower

The Black Skirt Tetra is a fairly large tetra with a dark flattened body. They will usually pick on other peaceful fish, just like the Serpae Tetra. If more than one is placed in the aquarium, try to put more than two (Because the largest tetra would constantly pick on the smallest and result death) and they will most likely form a shoal. In the wild they are primarily carnivores, but in the aquarium they will accept a wide variety of fish food. The Black Skirt Tetra requires a minimum temperature of 21 degrees Celsius and a pH of at least 6.0, as they are native to the warm tropical rivers of South America as most tetras are. There are different types of Black Skirt Tetras and relatively inexpensive: Veiltail Black Skirt, White (Ghost) Skirt, Veiltail White Skirt, Fruit Tetra (Dyed White Skirt). The Black Skirt Tetra is extremely hardy, making it the perfect starter fish for the beginner aquarist.

Black Skirt Tetras are a great fish for beginers. Make sure you have them in groups or 4 or more. Avoid keeping in an aquarium with fin nippers.
