Synodontis angelicus, or Angel cats, are native to the Congo river basin in Africa. Angel cats are hardy fish, usually not aggressive but also not easily intimidated. May be predatory towards smaller fish, especially at night. They are commonly nocturnal, and need a cave. They prefer rocks to driftwood. Angel cats may become territorial. They are omnivorous, and easily adapted to commercial foods. Be sure that they are fed, as they may not come out to eat with other fish. Sinking pellets or zucchini slices may be added to the tank at night. Due to their large size a 55 gallon tank is the minimum recommended size. Angel cats have been known to live at least 10 years in captivity.
