Flame Tetras are an active schooling fish when in a densley planted, moderate sized aquarium that come from South America. They prefer soft acidic water. One way to acheive is IAL(Indian Almond Leaves) as it not only lowers pH but tints the water making them more comfortable. In a proper sized tank(20g min) they will shoal as if they were wild. They are not picky eaters either. They will eat flake, pellet, frozen, freeze dried, live, and they even been seen munching on algae tabs(rare though). Proper tank mates would be catfish such as Corydoras and Oto's in smaller tanks, Small Plecostomus in medium sized tanks, ad Larger Plecostomus is larger tanks. Fish such as Other Tetras, Hatchetfish, South American Dwarf Cichlids, and sometimes Angelfish can make the tank look very natural. Decorate the tank with driftwood and/or bogwood, stones and lots of plants. A sandy bottom makes the tank look more natural.
