A very popular plant and it is no wonder, it is extremely easy to keep and will grow under pretty much any condition. It serves as an excellent hiding space for fish is great for filling out any tank. Kyle Thielk Just watch out because it will grow up and undercut other plants if not pruned regularly. Isaac H. Now banned in most states after having been found to overwinter in CT, this was the best beginner stem plant. Repeated pruning will weaken the plant, but occasional pruning will help crate a bushy look. I like to plant it in bunches. Makes a good foreground plant, too, as it will trail along the bottom in lower light. Dr. Ted Coletti

My favorite aquarium plant by far. I had success growing this plant in low light as well as in high light, low tech and high tech, in the presence of co2, and in the absence of co2. When most of my other aquarium plants appear to be dying, this one was still thriving. An overall excellent plant for low tech.

This is my long time favorite plant. It is easy and it is beautiful. However, one time I nearly lost it in one of my 10 gallon tanks. I added only "purified" water, when we installed a water purifying system in the house. I correced it by adding water out of our outside pond a couple of time and it resumed growing.

Easy plant, grows everywhere. In med light it tends to grow sideways like a carpet. Completely covered my 15g with 2 x 13 cfls. Survived in a small 2g with no light on it for a couple weeks. Spreads a bit too much with slower growing plants.

This plant was sold to me emersed and when I planted it, it grows new light green leaves after 2 days of adjustments. In just 1 week, it has grown 7 new leaves! And in high light, the tips of this plant turns pale pink! A very beautiful undemanding tank! :)

Please note this plant is classified as an invasive weed in some states and possession may be prohibited, as noted in the very top comment here. Check with your state Dept of Natural Resources before obtaining. Unfortunately, lots of really nice aquarium plants don't play well when they get introduced into habitats outside our tanks.
