Needs LOTS of light, and fairly soft water. Does not fare well in warm temperatures. gbhil

Are these real?

This plant grows well in cooler low-tech setups, even with low light and little addition of fertilizer.

This plant is from Europe, not Brazil. This is why low temperature is critical for good growth - it is a temperate, not tropical plant.

Agree, it's from the British Isles or UK thereabouts. I however don't agree that it's a fast plant. A fast plant would be something like cabomba that grows an inch a day. Edit: Photo added to images... WfxXx

Agreed hatonnia is a native plant, to me in the uk anyway. however I would suggest that it is a cold water plant. British rivers even in summer never get above 22C so cooler temperatures will suit this pretty plant much better.

Lovely plant. Have been looking for it for sometime, but with no luck. I am from India.

This grows well enough in 7.6 pH with medium to high light. Did not survive in very low light, EI Excel dosed tank. Has a tendency to break free of the substrate.

I have this in my tank and I don't see it being a background or even mid . Mine stays low too the ground . I must say it is a finnicky plant ! I missed a feet dose and it seemed to be the first plant to let me know Blake
