One of my favorite characins. I picked up 7 at a fish auction 2 years ago an they are still going strong. They behave similarly to CPD's if given a very densely planted tank. Darting around, males encircling each other. Like all other pencil fish, when the lights go out, their colors fade in order to protect themselves from predators. I've found them to be just as hardy as the hardiest fish out there, but in fact exhibit more interesting behaviors than lets say, you're ordinary tetra. They eat anything.
Bought 7 about a week ago and couldn't be happier. Already looks like they are starting to mate in one of my smaller limnophila sessiliflora. They occasionally even join the otos in cleaning the front of the tank, and I have even seen them pick at hair algae. Such characters.
