Waste of space. I had one of these it's looked awesome. But I never saw it ever. All he did was hide under rocks and came out at night only. He pooped a lot and I never got to enjoy him. So lots of clean up and work for nothing. They do an ok job cleaning algae.
I completely disagree with the first comment! I had a horrible algae outbreak after I came home from a Thanksgiving vacation. I tried everything to get rid of it quickly. Amano shrimp, Otocinculus, other plecos, etc. Nothing worked... at all. I went to the LFS and the store owner suggested one of these guys about 5cm long. Within about 2 weeks the algae disappeared and the plants were looking vibrant once again. You can get shy plecos from time to time but I chose the most active one in the store and I see him all day munching away. He's not skittish of anything. Highly recommended for an algae cleanup crew in a planted tank.
