Along with the surinamensis and the altrifrons, The juripari are possibly the most entertaining fish to observe in the entire hobby. Their jeweled appearance and big personalities are a combination that's hard to top. I had a trio in a 55g years ago, along with a vampire pleco and a school of julii corys. Not much of a candidate for a planted tank, though--at least not as it pertains to this site--as their feeding habits (Geophagus, latin, translates into earth eater) entail scooping up substrate and sifting it through their gills, picking out the vittles in the process. Basically, they'll uproot anything you plant.
