Very, VERY tough fish. I had one with no jaw and still survived by sucking in the food. Need swimming space though. They seem quite prone to Dropsy, so keep them in a clean environment. Keep atleast 4-6+ .

A great community fish. They can be fin nippers - only with the exception of having a small school - so be a tiny bit cautious. I had my with a zebra danio in a tank while it was cycling (Didnt know much back then) and they both survived. They are really hardy. When I had them, I only had a group of 3, but they were fine (Lived with an angelfish for 4 months, no nipping). I defiantly recommend these fish to beginners.
