I remember when I kept them, they never truly 'schooled' as in swimming together in some sort of formation. They pretty much float and skirt around and hide when alarmed. I think that is their normal behaviour. I kept almost 50 of them at the same time in one tank and they were still very timid, so I guess that is what you can expect out of them even in large groups.. nothing definitive though. Maybe they will become accustomed to humans after a while (i.e. know when there's food).
Glad to hear you are keeping asian rummynose tetras as well. I don't have my 20g and the asian rummynose anymore, I gave them away almost a year ago because I didn't have time to take care of them.
From what I researched and experienced, they have small mouths so whatever you feed them has to be very small. For example, you can feed them regular flakes, just crush and grind up the food into very fine parts and they should eat it.
In the wild, they gather in large groups, so I assume they feel safer in numbers. Also provide cover so they can hide. But in general, I notice that they are very timid naturally, so no worries. The males are the colourful ones, and the females are the brown ones. Once in a while, two or more males will have this funny fight/dance where they try to impress the females.
You can try some brine shrimp or other live foods, maybe that will be more appealing.
