I don't think I have seen any PAR data for that light fixture, so I'm not at all sure how much light you are getting. I haven't grown hairgrass either, but I understand that it will grow with less than high light, but good CO2 is very beneficial for it. I think you can do some searching in the Plants forum and find out more about it.

hey hoppy, i have a 75 gallon pre drilled tank. I have 48" current satellite led+ full spectrum light.I'm also using CO-2 with a mix max reactor and 200 lbs. of eco complete. based on all the research ive done on what it takes to grow plants. im really confused.LOL I know plants need full spectrum lighting, co-2 and good ferts to be healthy. The base of my plants will measure 17" from light. Is this setup sufficient to grow plants. I want to use hairgrass for carpet affect. Java fern on mopani wood, undecided on other plants so far. Never grown hairgrass before, and i know from 20 yrs. of growing java fern u can grow it with very minimal light. whats ur take on the hairgrass with my setup. PLEASE

I don't know anything about that Fluval LED light, other than that they don't give you any PAR data for it in their website. That often indicates that the light doesn't produce enough for a planted tank. One advantage of Finnex LED lights is the PAR data they provide for each of their lights - you know what you are getting with them.

    Hi Hoppy.
I heard you were the person to talk to. I am new to Planted tanks and setting up a 10 gallon.

Here is what I bought. (everything is returnable)
    Marineland 20gal filter
    1 bag Flourite Black Sand
1bag Flourite (looks like bark chips? lol)
    Fluval 24" Planted Aquarium LED
    10 gal tank (obviously)

Would you say this is a pretty good start?
Would I get a good PAR value from that light so I can to a carpet?
    What else am I missing?

Sorry to bother but this is a tank I have been itching to start.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Names Tyler btw

I'm slowly starting to work on the PAR meters again. No estimate on when some will be available, but probably by the end of this week.

I'm working on a batch of 6 of those PAR meters, and experimenting with a different design, using the original photodiode in the lux meter. I've been pretty sick over the past 2 weeks, so I'm stalled for now, but I should have some PAR meters ready in a week or so. I added your name to my list of people wanting one, and will PM you when I have some to sell.

I have bought LEDs from DealExtreme about 4 times, as I recall, and they have always delivered what I ordered, in a reasonable time. I have no questions about their legitimacy at all.
