    chouavue, Tom Barr uses city water too, and found that dosing GH booster at each water change was necessary to get enough magnesium for the plants. So, I dose GH booster at water changes, too. But, Elk Grove water is largely, or entirely well water, where ours is mostly river water. Here is your water quality report: http://www.egws.org/pdf/2013_CCR_Published_2014.pdf

    Charlie, I had to quit making PAR meters because my arthritis is getting worse and using my hands that extensively makes they hurt all night. Being old is a drag some times.

    That AquaEl tank/light combination could be from medium to high light, depending on how good the reflector(s) are, and how good the ballast is. I have never seen one, and there are no detail photos of the light in that website that I noticed, so I can't say any more about it.

    I had very good growth of Sagittaria with a PAR at the substrate of about 20-25. I think you probably have about 30 at the substrate, so you should do very well. It will help if you use Excel.

    Hello Hoppy,
    I am looking to carpet my 20 gallon tall with Sagittaria requiring medium light. With a lighting system with a PAR of approximatly 105 at 6inchs, 45 at 12 inches, and 22 at 18 inches. Would this meet that lighting requirement?
