    It's possible if the algae is in the filter media. If you are starting over and do not have any fish in the tank, I would just go and start the new filter on its own.

    Hey Tig, about our last conversation. Since I have cleaned out my tank and I have a new and better filter setup, could I possibly introduce the algae from the last tank via the media filter into the new setup or should I just let it grown on its own?
