I use a LOT of Flourite. Since my tanks are low light I primarily grow mosses with a few other things, and everything seems to be doing well. I also use fert tabs in the Flourite, mostly because I travel a lot and it gives the plants nitrients that I'm just never able to keep to a schedule.

Hi i was looking at you low tech tanks. I am interested in start a low tech tank in a 36 gallon bowfront that i am purchasing this weekend. I was wondering what type of substrate do you use. in ur tanks. I like the look of those substrates like Florish but i have heard that they are no good for growing slow growing plants in a low light tank. I would appreciate any advice.
